Hanover County School Board Seeks Input on Goals for the 2008 Redistricting Process PDF Print E-mail
Written by Hanover County Public Schools

Hanover’s 24th school, Laurel Meadow Elementary, is under construction on Lee-Davis Road and is scheduled to open in September 2008. During this school year, the Hanover County School Board will approve attendance zones to populate the new school and provide capacity relief for schools in the eastern part of the county. In addition, as a result of conversations during the 2006 redistricting prior to the opening of Kersey Creek Elementary, the School Board decided that the 2007-2008 redistricting process also would provide an opportunity to consider other issues, including an evaluation of enrollment projections for Cool Spring Elementary, a review of middle and high school enrollment projections, and an evaluation of the potential for direct feeder patterns of elementary to middle and middle to high school. The School Board has hired a consulting company, Eperitus, to guide the work of the 2008 Redistricting Committee. This committee will be selected from a pool of applicants to assure a balanced representation from each Hanover school. School Board members, staff members and school principals will serve in an ex-officio capacity to provide information as needed.
