Prescription discount card for Hanover County residents

Hanover County now provides the prescription drug discount card at no cost to County residents. This program has been made available to Hanover County through an agreement with the National Association of Counties (NACo).

The free Prescription Discount Card is available at all of Hanover County’s branches of the Pamunkey Regional Library. They are located at Hanover Courthouse, Ashland, Mechanicsville, Atlee, Rockville and Montpelier. The libraries are generally open Monday-Saturday except on holidays. The card also can be picked up at the front desks of the Hanover County Departments of Social Services, Community Services and Community Resources, which are located in the Hanover Human Services Center in Ashland. The hours of those offices are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The address of the Hanover Human Services Center is 12310 Washington Highway, Ashland, 23069.

You can use your card to start saving immediately. Present your prescription discount card at a participating retail pharmacy when you fill or refill your prescription. Everyone in the family can use the same card.

While savings on each prescription may vary, you can save an average of 20% off of the pharmacy’s regular retail price for commonly-prescribed drugs whenever the prescriptions are not covered by insurance. This is an average; your exact savings can vary depending on the prescription drug and the price you have paid before. There are no restrictions on how often you can use the card.

The prescription discount card does not replace having insurance.

The prescription discount card is accepted at over 59,000 retail pharmacies nationwide, including many of the leading chains.
