Virginia's superdelegates are all members of the DNC (Democratic National Committee) who live in Virginia. There are four ways in which people become members of the DNC.

Some people are high level Democrats who are automatically DNC members such as:

1.       former DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe
2.       former Clinton administration Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman
3.       Gov. Tim Kaine
4.       Democratic Party of Virginia Chairman C. Richard Cranwell
5.       DPVA 1st Vice Chair for Organization, Del. Jennifer McClellan

In addition, all of Virginia's Democratic Congressional members are automatic DNC members:

1.       Rep. Rick Boucher
2.       Rep. Jim Moran
3.       Rep. Bobby Scott
4.       Sen. Jim Webb.

The third group of DNC members from Virginia is elected during the DPVA state convention in June and hold four year terms. The following people were elected to the DNC during our state convention four years ago. Their term ends at the close of the Democratic National Convention in August.

1.       Del. Lionell Spruill
2.       Mame Reilly
3.       Susan Swecker
4.       Jim Leaman

The final group of super delegates are people appointed by DNC Chairman Howard Dean. They are:

1.        Barbara Easterling
2.       Joe Johnson
3.       Jim Leaman
4.       Jerome Wiley-Segovia
