VA candidates work hard PDF Print E-mail

Virginia's Democratic legislative candidates are working incredibly hard. The Governor has been all over the state helping them any way he can, and as Virginia Democrats, we've supported them, too. Many of us have given financially.

All of that dedication stems from one common belief: That Democratic leadership has and will continue to innovate, keeping Virginia on top in the classroom and the workplace. We have a very real opportunity to regain at least one chamber in the General Assembly - an accomplishment that will ensure Democrats have of a seat at the table during the 2010 redistricting process and legislative clout in the next governor's term. We hope that the next Governor will be a Democrat who can continue build on the progress Tim Kaine has made and will be able to make with a stronger hand in the legislature. And if that next Governor is a Republican, we'll need clout in the General Assembly more than ever.

There is a lot a stake this year - essentially our progress thanks to the last six-years of result-oriented Democratic leadership. Early childhood education, a redoubled effort to improve roads, bridges, and transit... You get the idea.

All we need to get there is your help.

Studies show
that nothing influences voters as much as someone advocating for a candidate in person. After all of the mailings and the television advertising, your neighbors still need to hear from you.

Our friends at the Democratic Party of Virginia have built and organized a number of different ways to join Governor Kaine in taking a personal stake in this election. You can walk precincts, make calls from home.

If you can spare even an hour or two, the DPVA can make sure it counts.

Please join us. We are so very, very close to another major victory for Virginia Democrats. Together, we won with Mark Warner in 2001, Tim Kaine in 2005, and Jim Webb in 2006. Taking one chamber of the General Assembly away from the Republicans this year will lead to victory in the 2008 Senate race, put Virginia in play in the Presidential campaign, and set us up for another victory in the 2009 election for Governor.

It's never, ever too late to get behind this effort.

Please step up and commit as little as an hour of your time today.

Best wishes,

Matt Felan
